Obituary for Robert L. Steele

Robert (Bob) L. Steele was born on August 11, 1940, and passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018.

Bob was born in Spokane, Washington and grew up in Roseburg, Oregon. He moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1979 and purchased U-SAVE Gas, which he owned for 27 years before retiring. He loved his business and all the people. Bob loved floating the Rogue River, especially in the Wild and Scenic section for the beauty and the camping out, which he did many times while taking his 87 year old mother-in-law to enjoy all the scenery.

Bob supported many kids’ programs, as well as their rafting trips. He also supported many hydroplane boats for many years. He liked to play racquetball, drive his RV, travel and go crabbing at the coast. He served in the U.S. Army reserves for six years. Bob married Alice in 1997, who survives, along with one brother, Bill and wife, Sue Steele; and sister, Mearline and husband, Wayne Schmidt; daughters, Tiffney Steele and Dave, Kelly Steele Kimler and Jim; sons, Grant Steele and Amy, and Brad McCune; three stepsons, Dennis Kennedy, Tony and wife, Connie Kennedy, and Sam Kennedy; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his dog, Brandy; and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
